Good to know

🐑 The Animals🐑 Morning here starts differently. Step outside and the sheep come to meet you — goats, alpacas, and chickens too, all rescue animals, all irresistibly friendly. Treats are provided. The animals are trained to come right to the pasture fence so you can feed and visit with them from your private yard. Farm-fresh eggs wait for you at arrival (pasture-raised, beyond organic — you’ll taste the difference). Full farm tours are available on request if you want to go deeper. 🏡The Cottage🏡 What guests can’t capture in photos — and try, they really try — is the feeling of this place. 1,200 square feet across two levels, renovated with an eco ethos by your host (a regenerative designer with an obsession for heirloom finds and high-end materials, and a “buy next to nothing new” philosophy). Every piece has a provenance. Nothing is cookie-cutter. Nothing is an afterthought. Downstairs: Queen sofa pull-out behind a sliding barn door · gas fireplace · custom bar carved from a fallen Santa Barbara Mountain tree by a local artisan · chalkboard wall where every guest leaves their favorite thing (a living piece of art) · full kitchen with every coffee maker you could want and fresh organic beans · high-end propane BBQ · expansive covered porch draped in wisteria, frequented by hummingbirds. Upstairs: Queen bed with luxury eco-friendly mattress · two XL twins · a 10-foot reclaimed wood desk with panoramic farm and mountain views (the best remote work setup you’ve ever had) · second living room · yoga corner with acupressure mat· large private balcony with throw blankets for stargazing. ✨Your Private Oasis✨ A fire pit facing Figueroa Mountain. Rose gardens, a historic gazebo, cutting lavender gardens, and a fruit orchard. A fully fenced drive and yard — entirely yours. Landscape lighting that makes the whole property magic after dark. The occasional visit from Loki, our majestic white barn cat. 📍The Location📍 Ballard is the sweet spot of the Santa Ynez Valley — old-growth trees, authentic ranches, absolute quiet — and yet nothing is far: - Walk to Bob’s Well Bread Bakery (10 minutes) - 3 minutes to Lincourt, Roblar, Stolpman, and Beckmen vineyards - 3 miles to Los Olivos tasting rooms and boutiques - 5 minutes to Solvang, Los Olivos, and Santa Ynez - 30 minutes to Refugio Beach WHAT MAKES THIS SPECIAL 🐑 Rescue Farm Animals — Feed goats, sheep, alpacas daily. We absolutely can't say enough wonderful things about Jen's place — it was hands-down the most magical and perfect stay for our family! The chic sheep farmhouse is spacious yet incredibly cozy, and it instantly felt like home the moment we walked in. The property and grounds are wonderfully peaceful and quiet, and getting to interact with the charming farm animals every day was such a delightful treat for both the kids and the adults alike. The surrounding Santa Ynez area is stunning, with beautiful scenery and fantastic options for dining and activities in every nearby town. Jen is an absolute gem of a host — gracious, warm, and incredibly easy to communicate with. She made our entire experience even more special. We're already counting down the days until our next visit to Santa Ynez and can't wait to book this same stay again. (Honestly, we'd move in if Jen would let us!) This place is truly phenomenal — 10/10, 5 stars, and highly recommended!

Thoroughly enjoy a stay on The Anavo Farm, a wonderful retreat get-away in and around Santa Barbara County wine country. It's quiet and secluded, but everything you might need is no more than 5-10 minutes away. The farmhouse is clean and comfortable and well appointed. Plus there are an array of goats, sheep, alpacas and assorted other farm animals outside your front door who are more than happy to make your acquaintance.

We had a great stay at Jen's farm. It was peaceful, quiet and had incredible views. At night you can clearly see the stars, and during the day there were many sheep, alpacas and goats to watch and feed! The location is perfect, about a 10 minute drive from Solvang, Los Olivos and Santa Ynez, so we could easily go to and from as we wanted. The guest house itself was very clean, well decorated, full of amenities, and included a welcome bottle of wine and farm fresh eggs! We also received a great farm tour from Annie and got to meet all the animals up close. I would highly recommend staying here and we are already looking to plan a trip back.

Probably one of the most magical places I have ever been. I seriously can’t wait to go back and bring my little boy and his 2 cousins. Did some local trails such as Lovers Loop. Explored Los Olivos and Solvang . etc. Beautiful restaurants, small towns lots of greenery right now. It’s a place like no other. You almost can imagine yourself living there forever.

We spend 2 nights for celebrating my daughter’s 9 years old birthday. It’s a dream house for our family. House is clean and cut. The best part is I’ve in a real farm. We spend a lot of time with the animals. They are friendly.

This place is straight out of a fantasy book filled with charm, graciousness, and thoughtfulness. Both the interior and exterior are perfectly paired to delight. From the moment you pull up to your own private parking area, to the pathway leading up to the front door to a very private and separted cottage, you start to relax and destress! The entire layout and floorplan was designed with warmth and serenity in mind.

The house is a 5 minute drive from the center of all the towns in the Santa Ynez Valley (Santa Ynez, Solvang & Los Olivos). There are many cyclists in the area that will bike from place to place, but definitely plan on making it a day excursion if you plan to forgo driving. There is also Uber/Lyft available in the area as well as private wine tours that can drive your vehicles or limo you around should you be doing a lot of wine tasting.
